Paul Pogba Returns to Football with Monaco Deal

Paul Pogba is back in the game, signing a two-year contract with AS Monaco, restarting his football career after Juventus refused to re-sign him upon the expiration of his ban from the sport and all related activities over a failed drug test.

The midfielder failed the test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) following Juventus' first match of the 2023-2024 season against Udinese. Pogba took this time to reflect and refocus. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) four-year ban was relaxed to 18 months. after the body noted that DHEA primarily affects females, suggesting that Pogba's use of the substance was likely unintentional.

His move to Monaco represents a fresh start for Pogba as he prepares to make his Ligue 1 debut. The Frenchman was signed to Manchester United in a previous world-record fee of £89 million from Juventus, and he later rejoined the club after his spell at Old Trafford.

Initially, Pogba was hoping to return to Juventus and had teased about his intentions to rejoin the side before the club manager declined any interest in re-signing him. However, his impressive resume includes four consecutive Serie A titles with Juventus, a Europa League and FA Cup with Manchester United, and a World Cup winner's medal with France. As he steps onto the field in a Monaco jersey, fans are eager to see if he can regain his former glory.
