Paul Pogba, Doping Scandal and Career Lifeline After Ban Relief


Paul Pogba can finally take a sigh of relief after his four-year ban for doping was reduced to 18-month. To that effect, he might make a return to his career from next tear. 

The former Manchester United player was slammed with a four-year ban for dehydroepiandrosterone substance, which he was found culpable of following a test. Initially, he was suspended from the sport in September of last year and was later banned from all activities relating to in February. 

"Finally, the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again," said Pogba on his appeal.

As many reports have it, the player's ban was reduced to 18-month following his appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Effectively, Pogba restart his career from March next year instead of 2027 as earlier ruled. 

Transfer History 

Though, he started his career at Manchester United, Pogba's began to gain traction on his initial move to Juventus; he soon became a sort after midfielder in Europe. Besides winning the FIFA Men's World Cup for France in 2018, he was one of the foremost high-profile players to benefit from era of soaring deal signings. 

He joined Manchester Unitedfrom Juventus iin then world record deal signing for a footballer set at £89.5million (€113m) in 2016. That record remained the highest for an 3nglaih club until 2021. 

At the time, Pogba's outclassed that of Cristiano Ronaldo's 2009 world record signing of £80million (€94m) to join Real Madrid from United. However, the Portuguese striker later reset another record signing at €100m for a player older than 30 years to join Juventus in 2018. 

"I always stated that I never knowingly breached Anti-doping regulations, headed in his statement. "This has been a hugely distressing period in my life because everything I've worked so hard has been put on hold."

Career and Achievements 

United did prove to be a trophy-ladden spell for Pogba both in the domestic league and UEFA competition with the FA Cup and Europa League trophy. Unlike Juventus, his stint at United suffered a setback and often had troubles with his conduct with the team. 

He did not win the Champions League with neither of the clubs. Still, on his exit, though a return to his former club Juventus, the fee was yet another massive deal of £80million in 2020. 

What's Next For the Player?

Pogba is still a Juventus player since his contract still runs until 2026 and might to eligible to return to the club upon the the expiration of his ban in March, 2025. Weather Juventus are keen on receiving him to the club that is yet unknown. However, reports has that the 31-year-old receives some amount of money from the club while he serves his ban sentence. 

Another view about his return to Juventus is that, the management might choose to terminate his contract on mutual agreement. That remains a speculation as the club is yet to make their stance on the player known.
