Aston Villa Set to Open Talks On Emiliano Buendia's Contract

 

As football players are having two weeks hiatus, following an international break, Aston Villa are reportedly considering extending Emiliano Buendia's contract as its expiration date draws near. 

Emiliano has until next summer remaining in his contract, and Villa are keen on keeping the player, whose performance they have deemed impressive. Last season, he played a crucial role in the team's UEFA Europa League title victory; It was Villa's first major European trophy since 1982. 

In a bid to keep the attacking midfielder to a long term contract, they have reportedly triggered an extension clause in his contract ahead of its expiration. The move is reportedly necessary after Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins left the club to join Chelsea and Al-Hilal, respectively. 

The Argentine, 29, joined the club from Norwich City in 2021. He had a brief loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen before returning to the club in the 2025/26 season. He has made a total of 159 appearances, scoring 23 goals across all competitions.
