Joao Pedro Extends Chelsea Contract

Joao Pedeo has extended his Chelsea contract for six more years, despite rumours that the striker was set to leave Stamford Bridge.

Previously, the Brazilian player was linked to Arsenal as a replacement for Leandro Trossard, who left the club to join Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig. In the same period, Chelsea signed Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Albon Hove, fuelling the rumours that Pedro might leave.

To keep their rivals out of the race, Chelsea secured a verbal agreement with the striker in their attempt to keep him. The newly-signed contract is expected to land the player a pay rise and an option for an extension, Fabrizio Romano revealed.

Before Chelsea secured the extension, Arsenal had signed Christos Tzolis from Club Bruges. The Greek winger was also deemed a replacement for Trossard. Tzolis joined the Gunners in a contract worth £34 million.
