Crystal Palace Reach Agreement With New Head Coach As Oliver Glasner Leaves

Crystal Palace are close in on signing a new head coach and have reached an agreement in principle with RC Lens manager, Pierre Sage.

Oliver Glasner left Palace after declining to renew his contract which expires in June. Rather, he chose to step down after leading the club to win their first major European trophy at the UEFA Conference League.

Initially, Palace were pursuing a contract with former Bournemouth manager, Andoni Iraola. However, they could not win the race to the Spaniard manager, who signed with Liverpool, instead.

Palace are reportedly considering a three-year contract with Sage, with an option for an extension. Meanwhile, Sage has two more seasons to run in his contract with Len.

Sage had an impressive run at Lens in the just-concluded season. He led the team to win the Coupe de France, which was their first major trophy in 27 years. Also, he led the side to finish the season a second runnersup, securing a UEFA Champions League ticket for the team.
