Oleksandr Usyk Remains Unstoppable, Puts Daniel Dubois In His Place
Oleksandr Usyk is unstoppable. Neither Daniel Dubois nor Anthony Joshua is the Ukrainian heavyweight champion. He has proven himself to be the fighter to beat and the undisputed champion, having defeated every former champion who has challenged him, including Tyson Fury, whom he defeated back-to-back in a rematch fight.
Dubois was humble, to say the least, at Wembley Stadium on Saturday in their rematch fight. On his second time being floored, the Briton was knocked out in the fifth round. That completed his second defeat to the reigning heavyweight champion, who retained his belts: WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO.
However, did that happen? Usyk was just the better fighter than Dubois. He landed more punches than the Briton, even before the ultimate knockout; he had been prolific with his left hook. He was precise and effective, unlike Dubois.
Anthony Joshua Loses Rematch Fight To Oleksandr Usyk
Dubois' best shot was in the first round. He cornered the Ukrainian and gained the attention of the roaring crowd, but he could not land a convincing punch on the defending champion that would make him fatigued afterwards. Conversely, Usyk was able to undo his aggression, and by the third round, had established dominance, landing more hooks before sending him spiralling to his feet in the fifth round.
Earlier this year, Usyk defeated former WBA heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in an undisputed boxing fight in Riyadh. Earlier, he had defeated former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in a rematch fight and claimed all the heavyweight titles held by the British fighter. Meanwhile, Bubois won his fight against Anthony Joshua to set up the match against Usyk, but to no avail.
