Tyson Fury Makes Career-Defining Decision

Former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury has made a career-defining decision to bring his boxing career to an end following his back-to-back defeat to reigning heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Usyk became the mission impossible for Fury, who lost his WBC heavyweight title to the Ukrainian fighter in a unification fight in May last year. Usyk is now the undisputed champion with WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO titles after his defeat over Fury.

Whilst Fury looked forward to reclaiming the title in December, he was defeated by the Ukrainian fighter by unanimous decision. The Gypsy fighter, on multiple occasions, has retired from the sport. His last retirement was in 2022 but he later made a U-turn to return for a trilogy fight with Derek Chisora.

"Hi everybody, I'm going to make this short and sweet," Fury said in an Instagram update. "I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It's been a blast. I've loved every single minute of it."

Fury's rise to boxing fame began with Wladimir Klitschko when he claimed the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBF heavyweight titles in 2015. Upon his return from retirement in 2018, in the course of his fights, he fought former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, and claimed the title in a rematch.
