Formula One: Silverstone To Hold Two Grand Prix In Summer

Formula 1 has agreed on deal terms with Silverstone organizers that two Grand Prix will be held on the track for two consecutive weekends in the 2020 season.

The season is expected to resume in July with its first race in Austria in the lead up to the two weekends when Silverstone will host two Grand Prix on July 26 and August 2. The organizers of the British event and Formula 1 have reportedly signed a deal for the two events on Friday.

Silverstone managing director Stuart Pringle confirmed the agreement reached between the two parties during an interview with BBC Sport and explained that the races will be held behind closed doors in compliance with the regulations for the coronavirus pandemic.

Stuart explained further "However, these races will be subjected to government approval, as our priority is the safety of all involved and strict compliance with Covid-19 regulations."

Just as Silverstone, two races will be held on the Red Bull track in Austria for two straight weekends on the resumption of the sport in summer on 5 and 12 July.

The season's opening event was supposed to be in Melbourne, Australia but it was forced to be canceled after a racing team tested their member positive for Covid-19 virus symptoms. The victim later recovered from the infection after the team was quarantined in Melbourne for two weeks.
