50 Cent Says Emmys Snubbed 'Power' For Racial Reasons, Set To Cast Mary J. Blige In Season 6

Power, an American drama produced by Curtis Jackson otherwise known as 50  Cent, is one of the biggest show Starz and has gained strong recognition from viewers both home and abroad, yet it was snubbed in this year's Emmy Awards nominations.

That did not sit right well with the film creator Courtney Kemp neither did it with the rapper/executive producer, 50 Cent, who blamed the non-appearance on what has a "racial" undertone during a discussion at the Television Critics Association Press Tour on Friday.

Giving his position on the drama's omission for the award, Jackson believed his film should have made the list stating but for the reasons that "People who are running and connected to these ceremonies are not necessarily cool people."

He went on to say, "This project is the same material I used for my music. I didn't receive an award for [the] best new artist when I had the largest debut for a hip-hop album. I sold more records for a first album today. I look at it the same."

That being said, Jackson is not relenting on making the film the best anyone would see on Starz and he announced on Friday that female R&B singer Mary J. Blige will be starring in Power season 6.

"I had to bring something big to POWER, I went and got the best @therealmaryjblige to star in "POWER book II" the show must go on," he wrote in an Instagram picture update with the songstress.

Season 6 has been rumoured to be the final for the drama but Jackson had teased that it might not be the case and it might continue after its sixth season.
