Arsenal's Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis Steps Down To Join AC Milan
Arsenal's chief executive Ivan Gazidis has stepped down from his position with the club to join Italia Serie A side AC Milan.
The 53-year-old who was recently speculated to be linked for a move, has finally deemed it time to move ahead after holding the position for 10 years, a decision he described as "hardest" of his life.
In a message he sent to the club and its supporters, the South African thanked the management and the fans for the privileged offered him for the period he served the club.
"Change and succession is not only inevitable for a club like Arsenal," says Gazidis in his statement "it is necessary if it is continually to keep moving forward."
"Although it is very hard to do - the hardest decision of my life - I believe that, after 10 years, it is the right time for me to step aside to allow new leadership, energy and ideas to take the club forward into this exciting new era."
Gazidis will leave Arsenal by the end of October to resume his new position with AC Milan on December 1, and reportedly will be replaced by Raul Sanilehi who is the Arsenal's head of football relation.
