Tottenham Claim First Premier League Win of the Season Against Coventry
Tottenham ended their winless run, as the North London club defeated Coventry 3-1 in a comeback at the club's new Stadium.
The Spurs have only won a game across all competitions this season. They have been winless in all previous Premier League games this season. They were eliminated from EFL Cup by Liverpool, losing 3-1 at Anfield stadium.
James Maddison opened the scoring with a meticulous finish from outside the box. In one touch, he struck a superlative right-foot curly shot into in top corner after Kudus' cut-back set him for the penultimate goal.
Coventry restored level terms, leveling the scores minutes after the halftime break. Rudoni dazzled through the right back and did a one two back with Thomas Asante before striking the ball through Kinsky's legs. His first attempt was poorly saved into his reach and finished the rebound to equalise for Coventry.
Tottenham regained the lead eight minutes later. Omar Marmoush cleverly steered Robertson's pass into the top left corner, giving the Spurs a 2-1 lead. It was another classic finish moment that restored confidence to the Spurs. In the stoppages, they sealed the game with a winning goal.
In a rowdy moment inside the penalty area, Solanke managed to tip the ball to Ben Davies. The defender in one touch struck a low-cut down the bottom right corner, beating Rushworth to the net.
Maddison scored his first goal in eighteen months, setting Tottenham on course to win their first Premier League game of the season. The victory was Spurs' biggest Premier League game win since their previous against Everton, in a 3-0 win in October, 2025.
