Leeds United Hold Manchester United To Draw At Home
Leeds United resisted losing at home, holding Manchester United to a 1-1 draw after Calvert-Lewin's superb finish that canceled United's lead at Elland Road.
Manchester United have been winless in five previous games across all competitions. They have drawn back-to-back in previous Premier League games, which set them back in the table. Today's match further compounded their frustration after they failed to regain winning form, despite their first-half lead.
Patrick Mbeumo set United ahead in the 35th minute. His glancing header on the edge of the six-yard box beat the keeper to the top left corner. Unfortunately for the visitors, Leeds returned the favour after the interval. Calvert-Lewin struck a volley into the left corner following a corner.
Leeds lost their previous two Premier League games. They have won two games so far this season, while Manchester United have won one.
Overview
Leeds United kept a tight space to resist Manchester United from penetrating their half. Defensively, they maintained a compact approach, giving Calvert-Lewin space to charge up front against United. Mazaroui closely marked the striker on the left-back. Leeds became physical in the second half to slow down United, particularly Amad, whose influence stood out.
Chances and Assists
The match witnessed limited chances due to the defensive outlook of the game. However, there were pockets of exciting moments, including when Ama';s cross set Mbeumo up for a header that narrowly missed the net. Amad Diallo gave the most assists and was directly involved in Mbeumo's goal.
