Jannik Sinner Withdraws From China Open

Jannik Sinner has pulled out of the China Open after a persistent injury forced him out of action since winning his second Wimbledon title in July. 

The world number one announced his withdrawal, citing a knee injury, and he has not been in good condition. Jannik won Wimbledon for the second time in a row in July after a stellar clay-court season performance, winning all the Masters 1000 events to complete a Golden Masters. 

"I won't be able to play in Beijing this year. My knee is not where I would like it to be, and I'm not ready to compete yet," said Jannik, confirming his withdrawal. 

"I will do everything possible to be back on court as soon as I can. What I miss the most is the tournament, the fans, and the atmosphere. I've had a great time in the past, including winning the title last year." 

Jannik won his maiden China Open title last year, defeating Learner Tiem in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Before the tournament, he had lost back-to-back to Carlos Alcaraz at the Cincinnati Masters and the US Open. 

Both Alcaraz and Jannik withdrew from the Cincinnati Masters this year, but the Spaniard returned to action at the US Open. The defending champion, Alcaraz, had a slow start, losing to Alexander Zverev, who won the tournament for his maiden Grand Slam title.
