Belloumi's Brace Earns Hull Point Against Chelsea At Stamford Bridge

 

Hull City twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with Mohamed Belloumi scoring twice in 6 minutes before Joao Pedro restored parity for the hosts in the second half.

Chelsea seemed on course for victory after Morgan Rogers opened the scoring early, but Belloumi scored twice within six minutes and gave Hull a break at halftime. Until Joao Pedro levelled, Chelsea could barely find a shot on target, despite late pressure.

Pedro won the ball during a fast break and delivered a precise pass across the box for Morgan Rogers. The winger drove into the area before drilling a low finish past Tzolak at his near post

Hull responded with composure rather than panic. The visitors began finding space on the counter, while Chelsea struggled to maintain control defensively.

Ryan Giles chased down Malo Gusto and delivered a high cross into the penalty area. Jorrel Hato failed to deal with the ball, allowing Belloumi to react first and fire a low half volley beyond Emiliano Martínez.

A corner caused problems inside the Chelsea penalty area, with Anselmo's header hitting the crossbar. Oli McBurnie eventually teed up Belloumi, who powered his second finish home.  

Chelsea retired level terms when Cole Palmer produced the decisive piece of creativity, weaving down the left before driving a low ball into the near post. Pedro held his position before firing over Tzolakis and into the roof of the net.

Claiming the maximum points would have put Hull City at the top of the Premier League table. A draw extended Chelsea's winless run to two consecutive games after losing the previous match to Arsenal. 

Overview 

Hu;; nearly went away with the maximum points. Hull capitalised on counterattacks; it paid off with two goals and near misses against a loose Chelsea defence. Meanwhile, Chelsea's comeback came off the understanding between the attackers. Pedro and Rogers' combination was effective. Their exchange of passes has been productive for the Blues, even in previous games where both players were directly involved in each other's goals. 

Chances and Assists

Hull had the closest chance of winning, even by a wider margin. They lost goalscoring opportunities that should have determined the game before Pedro's comeback. 

Lewie Coyle's strike from the penalty area was a close call. The defender latched onto a loose ball from a cutback and struck the ball down the right corner but marginally missed the net. Oli McBurnie also came close to giving the Tigers a third goal when Martinez's poorly saved rebound landed on the foot. The Argentinian keeper reacted quickly to stop the rebound effort. 

Rogers scored his third Premier League goal with Pedro's assist. Reece James' free-kick was a set piece that Chelsea could have scored from.
