Arsenal Claim Comeback Victory Against Chelsea In London Derby At Emirates

 

Arsenal remained unbeaten, extending their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a London derby at Emirates Stadium. 

Xabi Alonso's debut at Chelsea witnessed its first Premier League defeat. He had won the previous three games across all competitions, but could not end Arsenal's dominance over his team. The Gunners have remained unbeaten against Chelsea since August 2021, dominating the last four Premier League matchups at the Emirates.

Despite the Blues taking an early lead from Morgan Rogers' volley in the second minute. Kai Havertz restored level terms with an individual effort, striking a low, cut left-footed shot through the left corner. Arsenal returned from halftime break to take the lead as Martin Odegaard found space to strike from inside the penalty area. 

Chelsea are the first team to score against the Premier League defending champions this season. Arsenal had won their previous Premier League game on a clean sheet. 

Overview 

Chelsea lost at the Emirates, despite making their best start to a season in all competitions since winning four consecutive games at the start of the 2016/17 season. However,  Xabi Alonso’s attacking philosophy has already produced eight league goals in two wins and a loss at the Emirates.  The Blues' defence tends to face a stern test in pursuit of their Premier League competition.
