Alexander Isak Scores Brace As Liverpool Win Against Ipswich After Winless Run
Liverpool won their first Premier League game, defeating Ipswich Town 2-0, with Alexander Isak leading the side to victory by scoring a brace.
The Reds had been winless in their previous two Premier League game, drawing 2-2 on opening day against Newcastle United and again, drawing 2-2 against Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, Ipswich are having a back-to-back defeat after losing 5-2 to Manchester United in their previous game.
Alexander Isak capitalised on two glaring scoring opportunities from through passes and brilliantly finished off, beating Scherpen to the goal. In the previous game, he scored his first goal of the season in the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest.
Overview
Isak's early goals gave Liverpool a good head start. He scored a brace inside the first nine minutes, and it meant a lot to the Reds. Ipswich worked hard to exploit the left-back, but Araujo was firm in his position.
Bradley Barcola made his debut, replacing Victor Munoz, but Cody Gakpo was the standout player throughout. He made his influence felt in the build-ups to the goals that secured the victory.
Chances and Assists
Gakpo had the most assists, directly involved in Isak scoring the brace. In the first half. Szoboszlai struck from outside the box, forcing a save from Scherpen. He nearly drew a penalty following a rough tackle from Leif Davis. VAR ruled out the call because Szoboszlai was offside in the buildup to the tackle.
