Ronald Araujo Agrees To Loan Tranafer To Liverpool

Liverpool have secured a verbal agreement with Ronald Araujo on a loan move from Barcelona as Andoni Iraola continues to revamp his squad.

The Reds had just lost one of their key players, Mohamed Salah, who left as a free agent. The striker is in the middle of finalising a deal with a Turkish Super Lig club, Trabzonspor. Ibrahim Konate is another player who left the Reds this summer to join Real Madrid.

With Araujo, Liverpool will have its defence revamped with the centre-back, who spent seven seasons at Barcelona working closely with Virgil van Dijk.  He would serve as a replacement for Konate, who has now joined Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, the Uruguayan contract with Barcelona runs until 203q. He renewed the contract in 2025 with a €60 million temporary release clause. Nevertheless, the clause expired in July, allowing him to leave for Liverpool for less.

Liverpool reportedly paid a €4.5 million loan fee to Barcelona with an option to retain the player on a permanent contract. Signing the player to a permanent contract is understood to be set at €37.5 million, a cheaper fee than his previous release clause.

Juventus had tried to sign the defender in the January transfer window. Barcelona rejected the offer because the Italians offered a €35 million contract, which did not meet up with up with Barcelona's demand.
