Romelu Lukaku Leaves Napoli, Joins Fnerbahce

 

Romelu Lukaku has moved to the Turkish side, Fenerbahce, after agreeing to a fee in excess of €6 million to secure his departure from Napoli. 

Already, the Belgian striker was in his final season with Napoli after a three-season contract signed in 2024 as the replacement for Victor Osimhen, who left the club to join Galatasaray. In the same vein, Napoli had signed former Manchester United striker Rasmus Holjund ahead of the Belgian's exit. 

Fenerbahce announced the signing of the player to the club with a picture update and captioned the photo as, "BIG ROM. BIGGER DREAM." The contract is understood to include performance-related add-ons. 

Lukaku was a standout striker for Belgium at the just-completed 2026 FIFA World Cup in America. The country was unable to reach the Last Four, losing to Spain in the quarter-final. Nevertheless, the striker played a significant role in the team. He has a total of six career goals at the FIFA World Cup, making him Belgium's all-time top scorer at the competition. 

His move to Fenerbahce will reunite him with his former manager at Napoli, Antonio Conte. Lukaku joined Conte at Napoli in 2024 after his loan spell at AS Roma, where he spent the latter part of his Chelsea contract.
