Yan Diomande Nets Heyday Contract With Real Madrid

He was the youngest player in the Ivory Coast national team at the just-concluded FIFA World Cup; now he is getting a mouth-watering deal with Real Madrid.

Yan Diomande had been in the news for some time with links to top-flight European clubs including Liverpool. Amidst the speculation, Real Madrid came out of the blue and finalised a deal with him to leave RB Leipzig. It is barely two weeks after Ivory Coast was knocked out of the FIFA World Cup in the Round of 32

Jose Mourinho-led Real Madrid are confirmed to have agreed in principle with RB Leipzig to sign Diomande to a five-year contract valued at £100 million. The player, who had been speculated to have reached a personal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, will now leave the Bundesliga club to Los Blancos.

The winger had only joined RB Leipzig last summer on a contract that ran until 2030. He became a sought-after player following a stellar performance in his debut season with 13 goals in 36 appearances ahead of the FIFA World. RB Leipzig put a £100 million fee on him, and both Liverpool and PSG were unable to meet the demand.

Liverpool's initial offer of £85 million did not fly with the Germans. They had kept a close tab on the 19-year-old who has many years ahead of him. PSG did not finalise the fee with the player despite securing a personal agreement with him ahead of Real Madrid. Eventually, they pulled the plug after Real Madrid entered the race and secured a deal in principle on Sunday.
