Wimbledon: Jannik Sinner Sets For Thrinlling Final Against Alexander Zverev After Knocking Out Novak Djokovic


Jannik Sinner has moved one match away from defending the Wimbledon title, after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, in the semi-final. 

Losing to Jannik further jeopardized Djokovic's search for his first Grand Slam title since winning the US Open in 2023. Earlier this season, he lost to the Italian player at the Australian Open semi-final. Meanwhile, Jannik's unbeaten run through five consecutive ATP Tours ended at the French Open quarter-final, losing to Juan Cerundolo. 

In the ninth game of the opening set, Jannik broke for the first time, and broke for the second time at 3/3 of the second set to extend his lead by two games to love. He served a hold to love to claim the set. He kicked off the decider with an early 3-1 lead. 

Djokovic had just battled through a thrilling five-setter against Felix Auger-Aliassime. In the decider, after Djokovic saved a break to take a 5-4 lead. Felix served to force the set into a tie-break. Felix lost out hitting two shots wide, for Djokovic to claim the match point. 

In a separate match, Alexander Zverev eliminated Arthur Fery in three sets, 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4. Zverev had just won his first Grand Slam title at the French Open on his second final appearance. Zverev is faced with a huge task of undoing his previous losses to Jannik. He has lost four consecutive meetings to the defending champion this season.
