Jurgen Klopp Appointed As Germany's Head Coach

 

Jürgen Klopp has been appointed as Germany's head coach, two seasons after he retired from his role at Liverpool as the manager. 

German national team did not participate in the just-concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup, and they were eliminated from Euro 2024 by Spain in a 2-1 defeat. The former manager, Julian Nagelsmann, later resigned due to his failure to secure the team's qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 

"This is the pinnacle of my career as coach." Said Klopp in an interview. "It is a great honour for me to be here. Over the last few days, it was almost like a movie, happening to myself. There are a million thoughts running through your head. Where am I coming from? What am I going to do?"

Klopp signed a four-year deal, which reportedly is set to earn him much more than his predecessor. Nagelsmann earned £6 a year during his reign as the head coach. 

The 59-year-old manager was a high-achiever at Liverpool. In his nine-year reign, he led Liverpool to win their first Premier League title in 30 years in the 2019 season. In the same season, he led the Reds to win the UEFA Champions League and their first since 2005 under Rafael Benitez.
