John Stones Nears Moving To Inter Milan

 

Former Manchester City centre-back John Stones is closing in on a deal with Inter Milan after the Italians secured an agreement in principle with the English defender. 

Stones' contract with Manchester City ran out in June, and he has since been without a club. Nevertheless, he is not short of clubs to join, as Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus are reportedly monitoring the player's situation.

Since Manchester City all failed to renew the defender's contract despite his desire to remain at the club, he left Etihad as a free agent. Former manager Pep Guardiola was expected to favour his desire to stay as discussions on his contract reached an advanced stage last summer; the player might have fallen out of favour with the new manager Enzo Maresca. 

Should he finalise his deal with Inter, that would mean Arsenal and Chelsea are out of the race. He had an incredible spell at Manchester City, where he won the domestic treble twice. 

His move to Serie A puts him in a vantage position to lift a trophy. Inter are the defending champions of  Serie A, and they have won the title twice in three seasons: the 21st time they have won the title in the club's history.
