Charles Leclerc Wins British Grand Prix In Ferrari Podium Dominance
Charles Lecerc snapped his race win drought, winning his first of the season at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, as Kimi finished out of the top 10 for the first time this season.
It was a dramatic race for Max Verstappen, Antonelli, and Lewis Hamilton, who served a penalty for jump-starting. Meanwhile, Lecelrc dominated the race after Antonelli suffered a puncture midway through the race and finished fastest in 1:27:11.335s.
Ferrari had a better start to the race than Mercedes, with Leclerc and Hamilton speeding by the pole-setter, Antonelli. The Italian driver fought back as the pole position interchanged between him and Leclerc until Lap 41, when he damaged his tyres while running over the curb. He was pitted for a new set of tyres, costing him the podium.
Though Ferrari had the pace advantage at Silverstone, the pit stop went wrong for Hamilton. The Briton was trailing Leclerc until he was pitted for the second time and dropped behind George Russell, who led on to finish on the podium.
Verstappen was another eventful driver. He was in contention for a podium finish but was held back by Hamilton. The peers battled through laps for the front row before Verstappen ran into the gravel, leading to the deployment of a virtual safety car.
While it all went south for Verstappen, his teammate, Isack Hadjar, lived up to the challenge and finished in the front row to earn good points from the race. F1 defending champion, Lando Norris, came close to making the podium, but he was miles behind Hamilton to miss out on the podium.
