Atletico Madrid Clarify Position On Julian Alvarez Amidst Interest From Top European Clubs

Atletico Madrid have addressed the likelihood of Julian Alvarez leaving the club this summer, clarifying the club's position on the player's future amidst rumours of links to top European clubs.

Alcaraz is currently preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with Argentina. He scored the winning goal against England in a comeback victory that secured Argentina's second consecutive final appearance.

The club's C.E.O, Miguel Angel Gil, clarified the intention to keep the player at the club and that they "do not want to transfer him" regardless of the offers. Already, Barcelona have shown commitment to secure his transfer. Already, they have an offer declined by Atletico.

"My position is clear. Then the club position is clear. We've made it known to the player, his representatives, and the president of Barcelona," said Miguel. "I have absolutely no doubt that Atletico is the right place in the world for Julian and that Julian is the perfect centre-forward for Atletico Madrid."

Barcelona are not alone in the race to sign the 24-year-old. They are also monitoring Arsenal's interest in the player, despite Atletico's keen interest to keep him in Madrid. The Premier League club is understood to be monitoring the situation between Atletico and Barcelona, since the host club reportedly does not want a sale to a rival in La Liga.

Miguel added, "I recently heard the president say that the offer he made to Atlético Madrid wasn’t unlimited. My only response is that our answer is unlimited."

This season, Alvarez led the scoring for the club with 20 goals across all competitions. He scored his fifth World Cup goal against England, with four scored in the knockout stages.
