Kimi Antonelli Claims Maiden Pole In Monaco GP

Kimi Antonelli clinched his first pole in the streets of Monte Carlo, extending his streak to four this season as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton made the front row in second and third, respectively.

Home favourite, Charles Leclerc, could not live up to the task of pole position on his home grid, finishing in P4. The Mercedes pipped its rivals to the pole in Q3. Both Hamilton and Verstappen had provisionally posted pole times before Kimi overpaced them on his final run, posting 1:12.051 seconds.

McLaren had an unimpressive qualifying session with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris finishing outside of the top five, and George Russell missed the front. George did not have the pace to compete as the favourite for the front like his teammate, who improved from behind and set the quickest time on his last run.

Leclerc could have put up a good fight for the front row, but lost time on his final run, exiting the corner and slightly colliding with the barrier, ripping off his rear wing, and puncturing his tyres. The home favourite will start the race in P$.
