Manchester City Hold Down Everton In Six-Gial Thriller

Everton forfeited a worthy victory in a 3-3 comeback draw against Manchester City at Goodison Park as the latter rekindled Premier League title hopes.

Jeremy Doku and Jake Thierno scored a brace each in the six-goal thriller, reducing Manchester City's deficit in the Premier League table to five points behind Arsenal. Pep Guardiola had secured an FA Cup final appearance in a bid to complete a double for his team this season, as they fight on to contend for the ultimate, the Premier League trophy.

Guardiola's men took the lead when Jeremy Doku curled in a shot from the edge of the box. The hosts leveled, capitalising on a defensive error, which Thierno Barry finished off. Everton took the lead from Jake O'Brien's header before Barry scored the third, putting Everton in a comfortable lead.

Manchester City regrouped and restored level terms as Erling Haaland lobbed the ball over Jordan Pickford for the side's second goal. As the game progressed into injury time, Doku cut in from the left and curled a right-footed shot into the right corner.

Everton narrowly missed a chance of taking the maximum points, and as for Manchester City, it was a delightful comeback, necessary for their position in the Premier League.

Overview

Everton had, from the early stages, signalled to be formidable against Manchester City. They dominated before the visitors found succour from Doku's goal. Before that moment, facilitated by a couple of build-ups from the right wing, Everton had the better of the game in terms of chances and shots at the target.

The hosts stood a better chance of winning by a wider margin had Ndiaye made the most of the opportunities, but wasted them. However, Manchester City were the better side in the attack, but the Blues were reinforced after the replacement of Beto.

Team Efficiency

Doku was the standout player for Manchester, while Barry was for Everton. However, Doku was more effective after the goal attempts he converted compared to Ndiaye, who had two one-on-one attempts with the goalkeeper and wasted them. Semenyo also played a significant role in the game, particularly in the first half. Manchester City had fewer goalscoring chances than Everton, who let the game slide due to fatigue in injury time, paving the way to a comeback

Chances and Assists

Semenyo was involved in the buildup that eventually led to the opening goal. Guehi was the weak link for Manchester City and caved in to pressure, making an error that canceled out their lead. Moments earlier, he had made a defensive error that Ndiaye seized to launch a one-on-one attack on the goalkeeper. Eventually, after almost causing a penalty for blocking Ndiaye, Everton scored from a corner.
