Manchester City Beat Chelsea To Lift FA Cup

Manchester City are the FA Cup winners after securing a hard-earned 1-0 victory over West London rivals, Chelsea, at Wembley Stadium.

Pep Guardiola had just led the side to win the Carabao EFL Cup, defeating Arsenal by 1-0 in the final. Winning at Wembley Stadium sealed Manchester City's domestic double this season, despite being the underdogs due to Arsenal's initial performance. They have proven to be resilient and in good shape as they closely trail Arsenal in the race to the Premier League trophy.

In the 72nd minute, Haaland dropped deep, held off Jorrel Hato, and slid a pass into the box. Semenyo latched onto the six-yard box, and despite a defender's challenge, he back-heeled the ball past Robert Sanchez into the bottom centre of the post.

Manchester City are still in the race for the Premier League glory. They trail Arsenal by two points. The Gunners will have to ensure they win their remaining two matches to secure the title

Overview

Manchester City had, from the start, shown themselves to be calculating and ambitious for the trophy. Chelsea withstood their pressure, but they were too loose for Manchester City to take advantage of.

Technically, Manchester City was the better side. Guardiola made the first change at the break, bringing on Rayan Cherki for Marmoush to bolster the attack. The effect was immediate, setting Semenyo up with a cross, but the attacker's header missed the goal.

Team Efficiency

Both sides had fair control of possession and the right attitude towards their defense. Chelsea have got the pace, while Manchester City moved through the wings. Doku was closely marked by Gusto, slowing down City's pace advantage on the left.

Chelsea committed more men to the midfield, but their advances towards the opponents' box did not result in shots on target due to Manchester City's defense. Chelsea defenders left enough gaps between themselves for City to exploit. Meanwhile, they had their defense compact, keeping Chelsea out of scoring range.

Chances and Assists

Marmoush wasted a great moment to put Manchester City in the lead. He wandered offside while unmarked between Calceido and Cucurella. Semenyo read the moment correctly, slipping a pass through, but Haaland's goal was ruled offside because of Marmoush.

Haaland breaking into the box, latching onto Doku's cross-pitch cross was a great moment for City. The winger remained a powerhouse for City, but Sanchez saved the efforts. Comparatively, City had better chances than Chelsea. Cherki's cross to Semnyo was a great moment for City to have taken the lead soon after halftime. Meanwhile, Chelsea's best chance to score was from Enzo Fernandes' scissors kick after Semenyo's goal.
