Jannik Sinner Wins Maiden Madrid Open Title

Jannik Sinner is the champion of the Madrid Open for the first time, winning his fourth consecutive Masters 1,000 title this season after a clash with Alexander Zverev.

Zverev lost in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, making it his fourth consecutive loss to the Italian in Masters 1,000 events. The German had not reached a final since his last at the Vienna Open, which he lost to Jannik.

"I'm very happy I've continued to believe in myself," said Jannik when asked about the match. "I'm showing up every day, at every practice session, trying to put in the right work with the right discipline."

Jannik has remained unbeaten in the Masters 1,000 events since the last edition of the Paris Masters. He becomes the first player to win five straight Masters 1,000 events, and improves his unbeaten run to 23 matches.

Zverev, a two-time Madrid Open titlist, has now lost all four encounters with Jannik this season, starting with their first at the Indian Wells Masters.  Ahead of the final, he was in the race to become the fourth player ever to win three or more Madrid Open titles, alongside players like Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.
