Jannik Sinner Wins Historic Maiden Italian Open Title

Jannik Sinner clinched his maiden Italian Open title on his second try, defeating Casper Ruud in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

Ruud held firm, making Jannik dig deeper in the first round. Trailing 3-4, Jannik rallied to win three straight games and led a set to love. The second set was not different from the first. However, this time, Ruud was trailing as the champion coasted to victory.

Jannik made his first Italian Open final appearance last season, losing to Carlos Alcaraz, and therefore, he lost again to Alcaraz at the Cincinnati Masters. Since the Shanghai Masters, Jannik has held firm, winning at the tournaments. He is now the first Italian player to win in Rome since Adriano Panatta did in 1976.

The Italian player completed his Golden Masters, winning all nine Masters 1000 titles, making him the second player, after Novak Djokovic, to achieve the feat. He remained unbeaten in 34 consecutive Masters 1000 matches. A feat that is second to none in professional tennis.
