Monte-Carlo: Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev Meet In Semifinal

Jannik Sinner made a stride into his third semi-final appearance in the Monte-Carlo Masters as he bids for his maiden title at the event. He achieved that by defeating Canadian player Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

Felix dug deep to withstand the tenacity of Jannik's forehand groundstrokes, before conceding the first break to the second-seeded player in 3-2 of the first round. The second set was a blockbuster until the seventh game when Jannik broke for the second time to lead by 4-3. The Italian later claimed the match point on Felix's forehand return error.

Jannik dropped a set for the first time after 37 consecutive set wins in the Masters 1,000 events against Tomas Machac in the Round of 16. He had maintained title-winning streaks since the Indian Wells and will take on Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.

Zverev defeated Joao Fonesca in three sets, 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-3 to reach the last four. However, he stands to face Jannik for the third consecutive time this season. So far, Jannik is yet to drop a set against the German, who is also bidding for his maiden Monte-Carlo Masters title.
