Kanye West Headlining Of "Wireless Music Concert" Suffers Setback

Kanye West's return to the stage is not getting the reception he might have wanted following the show's cancellation over his previous behaviours and songs.

Wireless Music Concert was set to launch a three-day event in London, United Kingdom, after the organisers announced in the latter days of March that the artist, Kanye West, also known as Ye, would be the headline. The announcement was quickly followed by a backlash as the host country's government officials refused to allow the artist into the country.

Amidst the refusal to allow the show to hold, the sponsors of the artists, like Pepsi, PayPal, and others, pulled out of participating, citing the artists' statements that concern the community of Jews. Eventually, the event organisers had to cancel the three-night event after the UK Home Office rejected an application to enter the country.

The Home Office has withdrawn YE's ETA," the organisers said in a statement released. "As a result, Wireless Festival is cancelled, and refunds will be issued to all ticket-holders. As with every Wireless Festival, multiple stakeholders were consulted in advance of booking, YE, and no concerns were highlighted at the time."

Ye's music career took a downturn over his remarks about the community of Jews, leading to the cancellation of his contract with Adidas. He headlined the Wireless Music concert last in 2014, the last time he did.

Meanwhile, before the concert was cancelled, the artist had issued a statement, addressing issues surrounding a song he released titled, Heil Hitler. The year before, he had been spotted wearing a shirt with a swastika logo.

"I've been following the conversation around Wireless and want to address it directly," reads a statement he titled, 'Those I've Hurt.' "My goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music. I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in London in person to listen. I know words aren't enough."
