Erling Haaland Strikes Late As Manchester City Edge Arsenal
Manchester City claimed a statement 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad, with Erling Haaland’s 65th-minute winner setting the hosts on course to contend for the Premier League title.
Arsenal failed to learn a lesson from their EFL Carabao final loss to Manchester City, losing to the same team in the Premier League, putting pressure on them in their title pursuit. The Gunners gave their best, but Manchester City were hungrier for the victory.
Manchester City started strong, taking an early lead when Matheus Nunes slipped Rayan Cherki through the middle, and the Frenchman swept a composed right-footed finish into the bottom-left corner. Arsenal’s response was instant. Barely a minute later, Kai Havertz ghde into the left side of the 6-yard box and converted the scoring chance with his right foot to restore parity.
Eberechi Eze nearly set Arsenal ahead in the second half, and Gabriel, whose header almost made it into the left corner, but their efforts clipped the frame before Manchester City struck through Haaland. As pressure built up on the left, Haaland received an assist inside the 18-yard box and slotted the ball past David Raya into the left corner.
It was an unpleasant outcome for Arsenal, whose lead in the Premier League has now been narrowed to three points. Also, the Gunners have lost to their counterparts in two consecutive encounters in all competitions.

Arsenal needed pace to catch their opponents on the counter.
Arsenal came out in search of an equalizer, and it was an inauspicious pursuit, particularly Eberechi Eze's effort, which clipped the bottom right post. Doku was unstoppable for Cristhian Mosquera, launching an offensive that culminated in Haaland's winner. Arsenal will be fortunate to remain in the Premier League title lead as they have already thrown open the race for Manchester City to overtake them.
