Brighton Claim Big Victory Over Chelsea

Chelsea's winless run continues to hold as they lost 2-0 to Brighton, tumbling the Blues out of the top four of the Premier League.

Over the weekend, the Blues lost to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, extending their winless run to five consecutive Premier League games. Chelsea's performance has plummeted as injuries ravaged the team, including Joao Pedro.

Brighton set the game on course when Ferdi Kadioglu finished off a corner from inside the box, sending the Seagulls up in the lead. Hinshelwood doubled the lead within 10 minutes of the second half, neatly beating Robert Sanchez after a counter.

Danny Welbeck put the icing on the cake in injury time, sending Brighton away with a clean-sheet victory. De Cuyper darted into the box from the left and released a pass to Welbeck, who, on first touch, guided a shot into the right corner of the post.

The victory lifted Brighton to sixth position. The Seagulls extended their unbeaten run to five consecutive Premier League games, securing a position that could guarantee their Europa League qualification.

Overview

Chelsea made a handful of mistakes that the Seagulls should have sealed the victory long before the latter stages of the game. Despite having a defensive formation, the Seagulls still took advantage of their defence. Chelsea had a difficult night, but they were impressive compared to their opponents.
