Miami Open: Jannik Sinner Outlasts Alex Michelsen In Intriguing Clash

Jannik Sinner fought through a tough Round of 16 clash against an unsuspecting opponent, Alex Michelsen, advancing to the Miami Open quarterfinals.

Michelsen, ranked 40, gave his best to hold off the Italian, but lost in the tiebreak of the second set, as Jannik claimed a two-set winner, 7-5, 7-6(4), lasting for one hour and 40 minutes. However, it was the peers' second head-to-head clash, and Jannik maintained a clean sheet, winning on both occasions.

The American got an early break for a 5-2 lead in the second set before the Italian player rallied back. Jannik broke for the second time at 3-5 and forced the set to the distance. In the tiebreak, he claimed the match point on his Michelsen forehand return error.

It was a crucial victory for Jannik, who extended his unbeaten set run to 27 consecutive wins, upsetting the previous record set for the most set wins in ATP Masters 1000 events by Novak Djokovic. He matched the record set by the Serbian player in the previous round against Corentin Moutet
