Man City Cruises Past Arsenal To Win EFL Carabao Cup Final

 

Manchester City secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Arsenal, thanks to Nico O'Reilly's brace, as Pep Guardiola led his team to win for a record -setting fifth time at Wembley Stadium. 

In the domestic League, Arsenal stand the better chance of lifting the silverware than Manchester City do. However, winning the League Cup is comforting ahead of Manchester City, who will be facing Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinal. 

The final got off to a competitive start with Arsenal having an early chance to move ahead; instead, Bukayo Saka forced a save from James Trafford. Erling Haaland was largely anonymous, and the Citizens' dominance was reflected in their possession stats rather than their shot tally.

Eventually, it was the Citizens who struck first in the second half, following O'Reilly's glancing header, giving City the lead. The Gunners continued to press, but they were unable to create clear-cut chances, and O'Reilly's second goal sealed the victory four minutes later.

The final match ended as Manchester City's ninth EFL Cup. Meanwhile, Arsenal have not lifted the silverware since 1993. Besides, they have remained without a trophy since lifting their last FA Cup in the 2019-20 season.
