Liverpool Knockout Galatasaray To Reach UEFA Champions League Quarter-finals

Liverpool have seized a comeback effort to eliminate Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League clash, progressing to the quarterfinals on an aggregate score of 4-1.

Galatasaray lost woefully by 4-0 to Liverpool in the second-leg tie, despite their initial 1-0 lead from their previous tie. After Dominik Szoboszlai's equalizer in the first half, the Reds completed the comeback by scoring more goals in the second half.

Szoboszlai set the pace with the opening goal midway through the first half, finishing off Mac Allister's cross from inside the 18-yard box. Soon after the halftime break, Hugo Ekitike doubled the lead, tapping home Mohamed Salah's cross from close range.

The third goal followed quickly as Galatasaray's midfield crumbled. Salah's curly shot was saved into scoring range, and Tyan Gravenberch reacted quickly to finish off the rebound. Salah once again barrelled across the edge of the box, dribbling past the defenders, and curled a left-footed shot into the top right corner.

Galatasaray were no match for Liverpool, particularly in the second half. The Turkiye side is now out of the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool will face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals.

Overview

Anfield spelled doom for Galatasaray. They were shadows of themselves in the return fixture against Liverpool. The Reds took advantage of the centre and the left-back to penetrate Galatasaray's defence. Attack-wise, the Turkiye side was nowhere to be found. They lost it all in every angle to the Reds.

Sallah brought out his best, directly involved in three goals, despite previously losing a penalty. Galatasaray's left back capitulated to his pressure, leading to the goal-wrenching moments. He compensated himself with a spectacular goal to seal the victory.
