Juan Musso's Heroic Saves Lead Atletico Madrid To Historic Copa del Rey Final In Barcelona Showdown

Atletico Madrid held on to their earlier victory, eliminating Barcelona in the Copa de Rey semifinal second leg, despite a 3-0 loss at Nou Camp on Tuesday.

Atletico had set the pace for their victory. They led from the first leg, which they won by 4-0. However, scoring a goal against Barcelona was a difficult task for Atletico, and Juan Musso was to the rescue, making incredible saves that kept the side through to the end.

Barcelona threw everything at Atletico, and even when they had conceded three goals, with two goals from Marc Bernal and one from Rapjinha, they maintained their resoluteness. Earlier, Antoine Griezmann was close to putting Atletico ahead when they broke in through the centre. Griezmann forced a save from Joan Garcia, instead.

It is a historic victory for Atletico, securing their first appearance in the Copa del Rey final since 2013.  Barcelona's efforts to make a comeback from trailing were sabotaged by Atletico's goalkeeper.

Incredible Performance Ensuing Victory

Besides the great performance from Musso, Lamine Yamal was an incredible tearing down of Atletico's defense. The striker was involved in the build-ups leading to the three goals, including the penalty. Occasionally, he was faced with Ademola Lookman's challenge and lived up to it.

Ademola terrified the hosts. He was closely marked. He led the build-up, leading to Griezmann's strike. He had his moment when he headed wide Marcos Llorente's cross.

Marc Brenal's Moments

Brenal was well-positioned to take advantage and score a brace. He was left unmarked for a Yamal's cross and tapped the ball into the net from close range. His second goal followed a similar pattern. Bernal moved into scoring range inside the six-yard box and side-footed Joao Cancelo's cross into the net.

Atletico's defense was disciplined, but it was still accessible to Barcelona. The pressure was tense, and they caved in a couple of times. Raphinha's penalty was another moment in which Barcelona broke through the centre. Yamal exchanged passes in front of the 18-yard box, and Pedri was dropped while advancing into the box. Raphinha converted the spot-kick, but they were unable to complete the comeback to force the game into extra time.
