Jannik Sinner Wins Historic Second Miami Open Title
Jannik Sinner doubled his Miami Open trophy, defeating a Czech opponent, Jiri Lehecka in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday, making it the Italian's second Masters 1,000 title of the season.
Lehecka was meeting the second-seeded player for the second time in an ATP Masters 1,000 event after their first in the Indian Wells Masters 1,000. Jannik defeated Lehecka in their last meeting at the French Open in May 2025, and he has now improved to a 3-to-1 match win against the Czech in a major singles event.
The Czech was unable to outperform on his Jannik, despite saving an important break in the second set to get a 3-4 lead. Jannik rallied, breaking at 4-40 30/40 and sealed the championship point with a drop shot.
Jannik extended his unbeaten set wins in an ATP Masters 1,000 event to 34 consecutive times, and the longest set winning streak in Men's Singles in Masters 1,000 events. He has outpaced Novak Djokovic, who previously held the record for 10 years. He did during his match against Cotentin Moutet in the Round of 32.
He won his first Miami Open title in 2024 after making his maiden final appearance at the event, losing to Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. He doubled his Miami Open trophy on his fourth final appearance and became the first Italian player to win the title twice.
