Jannik Sinner Lifts Maiden Indian Wells Title In Fierce Clash With Daniil Medvedev

Jannik Sinner is the winner of the Indian Wells and his maiden title at the competition, extending his ATP Masters 1000 title streak to six titles and his first title of the season.

The second seed battled through a two-set final against Daniil Medvedev, outlasting the Russian in two tiebreaks by 7-6(6) 7-6(4). Medvedev saved two break-point advantages that Jannik had in the first set. Yet was unable to break the Italian's resolve.

Medvedev, who ousted the world number one, Carlos Alcaraz, engaged Jannik in a fierce forehand exchange, keeping his shots deep into the baseline. The strategy that worked effectively on Alcaraz failed to yield with Jannik, whose backhand shots were equally as effective.

The Russian was a finalist in the 2024 edition, when he was defeated by Alcaraz in two sets. Though he has gotten his revenge on the Spaniard, Medvedev's dominance was repelled by Jannik on his second final appearance in Indian Wells.

Jannik completed the tour without dropping a set, making him the first player to win a Masters 1000 title with a clean sheet. He joins players like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, who have won a title in all six ATP Masters 1000 hard-court events.
