Brighton Stun Liverpool With Dramatic Win

Brighton and Hove Albion handed Liverpool a 2-1 defeat at the American Express Community Stadium, with Danny Welbeck scoring both goals.

Liverpool lost their previous two Premier League games, which can be a setback to their UEFA Champions League slot in the next edition. During the week, they secured their place in the quarterfinals of the European competition after defeating Galatasaray in the second-leg tie of the Last 16.

They were unable to live up to their previous game at Amex Stadium. It did not take long before the Seagulls took the lead. Welbeck's header gave Brighton an early lead, and Liverpool responded through Milos Kerkez's equalizer. However, the hosts regained the lead soon after the halftime break.

Jack Hinshelwood's cross from the left met Welbeck in the box for a header that neatly beat Mamardadhvili to the net in the 56th minute. Despite Liverpool's late pressure, Brighton's defense held firm, and they closed out the win. Liverpool's late chances were thwarted by Bart Verbruggen's excellent goalkeeping.

Brighton maintained their winning streak through four games in five Premier League fixtures. They have moved two places up the EPL standings and are 10th with 43 points.
