Adesanya Israel Dismisses Retirement Plan After Losing to Joe Pyfer
Adesanya Israel continues to suffer huge setbacks in his UFC career after losing his fourth consecutive fight in the octagon on Sunday.
The two-time UFC middleweight champion was decisively beaten by Joe Pyfer in a two-round knockout, which was the biggest win of his career. However, this string of unhindered defeats casts a shadow of an impending retirement over Adesanya's career. The fighter later denied having any plan to quit his career after losing to Pyfer.
Speaking after the fight, Adesanya, 36, dismissed any talk of calling it a day and promised to "keep going, again and again," until he reclaimed his heavyweight title.
"I'm not leaving," he clarified. "You'll never stop me. I might get beat, but I'll always remain undefeated."
Pyfer, 29, got an advantage to throw Adrsanya to the canvas, choking and landing repeatedly punching him before the referee intervened. Meanwhile, moments before the eventuality, Adesanya had Pyfer to the wall, successfully landing several hooks and kicks.
"I expected his best, and he brought the best. I said coming into this fight, it's been 13 months since I last competed. I wanted to feel like I'd been in a fight. He gave me just that."
Unfortunately, he missed a right hook as they moved out to the centre of the ring. Adesanya spun as a result, and Pyfer seized the moment to grab him from behind. It was a lucky moment for Pyfer. The fight was tense, despite lasting for only two rounds, and the floor was blood-stained.
