Novak Djokovic Edges Jannik Sinner To Reach Australian Open Final

Novak Djokovic has set up an Australian Open final clash with Carlos Alcaraz, after he defeated the reigning champion, Jannik Sinner, in a five-set showdown.

Jannik was defending the title for the second consecutive time, but he was eliminated in the semi-final, losing to Djokovic by 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. The victory extended his chances of clinching his 25th Grand Slam title and his first in Melbourne since 2023.

Djokovic recovered from one set down in the second set to put the match in the right perspective. Jannik was sensational in the third, breaking a service to claim a set point. The 10-time champion dominated the two remaining sets, saving a break in the decider to claim the match point.

In the last edition, Djokovic was eliminated by Jannik in the semi-final. He walked out of the match due to an injury. He had not won a Grand Slam title or a Masters 1000 title since 2024. However, he reached a milestone of 400th Grand Slam match win in the third round. He has now extended the streak to 403 Grand Slam match wins
