Manchester United Part Ways With Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim has come to the end of his managerial role at Manchester United, following his dismissal by the club on Monday.

Amorim led the club to a 1-1 draw against Leeds United on Sunday. However, he had been under scrutiny for his choice of formation, 3-4-3, which the club wanted him to change to. Consequently, he was dismissed after a meeting with the club's executive on Monday.

The Portuguese manager was just 14 months into the job. He was signed from Sporting Lisbon, which he led to win the Primeira Liga trophy before leaving for Old Trafford

During his reign, he led United to the final of the UEFA Europa League last season. In the same season, United struggled through and narrowly avoided the relegation zone by seven points. He left the club in sixth position with 31 points, equaling points with Chelsea, who are fifth.

Darren Fletcher, a former Manchester United player and ex-Scotland international, will continue in the role as interim manager.
