Liverpool Dealt Arsenal Masterclass Showdown At Emirates

 

Arsenal forfeited an important match to solidify their position in the Premier League, playing a goalless draw against Liverpool at Emirates Stadium. 

Liverpool delivered a masterclass showdown against Arsenal, who could have been on a getaway by extending their point lead over their closest rivals, Manchester City. The Etihad club played a goalless draw against Chelsea on Wednesday, in their second consecutive draw in Premier League games, which should have been an opportunity for Arsenal to consolidate its leadership. 

The Reds deployed their short passes to cease the aggressive nature of their opponents. Dominik Szoboszlai displayed plausible coordination for the Reds, forcing Arsenal to backheel. Consequently, exhausting their opponents. The Gunners did not go down easily, as Bukayo Saka's curling shot was saved by Allison, before Piero Hincapie's back-pass error allowed Conor Bradley's effort to hit the woodwork. 

Arsenal repeatedly caused scares, which the Reds contained, putting Allisson to the test, and the goalkeeper did not give in to their intimidation. Arsenal desperately needed the maximum points, which Liverpool were staunch in defending.

Declan Rice's powerful shot was saved by Alisson, and Gabriel Magalhães's header was blocked. The half ended with both teams level, but Liverpool's Jeremie Frimpong was forced off with an injury, leaving the Reds to regroup at the break.

Mike Arteta replaced Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard with Noni Madukwe and Eberechi Eze to reinforce the frontline in the latter stages. Yet, Liverpool's defense was resolute, and there was not much either player could do except for Madueke's cross that missed Gabriel's header by a whisker in the final minute. Arsenal were not disappointed. They just played against a truly top-flight team that had nothing to close even if they lost.
