Leeds United Share Spoils With Manchester United

Leeds United held their ground, forcing Manchester United to a 1-1 draw after taking the lead from Brenden Aaronson's goal.

The game stayed goalless until the attacking midfielder struck. The game should not have gone the distance before United scored a goal. In the first half, Mathieu Cunha's volley was ruled out for offside before striking against minutes after Leeds took the lead.

Ayden Heaven was beaten to Pascal Struijk's lob pass that floated to Aaronson, who latched onto the box before beating Lammen to the left corner of the post in the 62nd minute. Three minutes later, United responded to the deficit through Cunha. Joshua Zirkzee slotted a pass through the midfield to Cunha, who darted into the box and struck the down the bottom right corner.

Leeds have proven to be competent against top-flight teams. Besides, Arsenal and Manchester City, they have drawn back-to-back against Liverpool and beat Chelsea in their previous encounter this season. They have maintained an unbeaten run through previous seven Premier League games.

Overview

Manchester United would have won had Cunha's first goal was upheld. He played a prominent role for United in the absent of Bruno Fernandes. It was a different outlook for the side, having Patrick Dorgu play from the right, making up for Bryan Mbeumo, who is out to participate in the AFCON Cup.

Leeds lived up to the outcome of their previous game against Manchester United, which ended goalless at Old Trafford. Aaronsson's strike was a piece of brilliance. Unfortunately, they let it loose for Cunha to break in to equalise soon after.
