Brisbane International: Mpetsi Perricard Out As Daniil Medvedev Progresses To Semi-finals

Giovanni Mpetsi Perricard has, for the second consecutive time, been unable to progress beyond the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International, as he was eliminated by American Aleksandar Kovacevic

Kovacevic outlasted the Frenchman in three sets, 6-7(3), 6-4, 3-6, despite Mpetsi having an impressive start to the opening set by winning the first game. Mpetsi won his only break point advantage in the second set and saved four out of five break advantages Kovacevic had.

Mpetsi was making his second consecutive Last Four appearance after defeating Rinky Hijikata in the Round of 16. He played at least one tiebreak in all four matches played in this tournament. He lost to Kovacevic, who is ranked 60, two places behind him in the ATP World rankings

In another separate match, Russian veteran Daniil Medvedev defied an early scare from Kamil Majchrzak to win in three sets, 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-2. The 2019 finalist will meet American Alex Michelsen in the semi-finals.

"Never talked about this, but I think the fact that it's after pre-season. It's a bit stressful, because you haven't played for like one month and a half, you're probably trying few new things," said Medvedev
