Brighton Secure FA Cup Fourth Round, Knockout Manchester United

Manchester United's woes continued as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion, and they were eliminated from the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

The first half was a tale of missed opportunities, with both teams creating chances but failing to capitalize on them. Diogo Dalot's early effort was saved by Jason Steele, while Danny Welbeck's shot was tipped over by Senne Lammens. The breakthrough came in the 12th minute, when Brajan Gruda's left shot found the back of the net, giving Brighton a deserved lead.

The second half saw United push for an equalizer, with Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha causing Brighton's defense all sorts of problems. However, it was Brighton's Danny Welbeck who would strike again, his left-foot shot finding the top corner in the 64th minute. United's hopes were further dashed when Lacey was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving them with 10 men.

In the dying minutes, United pushed for a leveller, but it was Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma who had the final say, with a series of clever runs and passes keeping United's defense on their toes. Benjamin Sesko pulled one goal back for United in the 85th minute, but it was a case of too little, too late for United, as Brighton's victory was confirmed.

United's performance was characterized by their usual energy and intent, but they were ultimately undone by Lacey's red card and a series of missed chances. Brighton's victory, on the other hand, was a testament to their growing confidence and quality.
