Bodo/Glimt Rout Manchester City With Thrilling Champions League Upset

Bodø/Glimt handed Manchester City a humiliating 3-1 defeat at the Aspmyra Stadion, with an emphatic control coupled with Kasper Høgh scoring a brace.

Manchester City's winning form continues to suffer. They have now lost back-to-back by at least 2+ goals. Erling Haaland was insignificant in the game as the hosts crowded the pitch. Having to lose Rodri to a red card jeopardised their comeback attempt after Rayan Cherki pulled one back.

The Norwegian side wasted no time taking the lead, scoring twice within two minutes through Høgh. Bod/Glimt seized a counterattack penetrate City's half, leading up to Høgh heading home from Ole Didrik Blomberg's assist. The second, just two minutes later, saw Hogh again finding the net with a powerful right-foot shot, this time assisted by Blomberg following another rapid break.

While the Citizens struggled to find their rhythm, Erling Haaland's early chances were thwarted by the goalkeeper. Bodo/Glimt found the net again after the interval through Jens Petter Hauge's stunning strike from outside the box.

The deficit seemed to sap City's energy before Rayan Cherki scored a late consolation goal. He beautifully struck a shot from outside the box into the back of the net.

Manchester City have never lost to Bodo in a European competition. The defeat was Bod's first ever victory against a top-flight Premier League club in a European competition, and they secured that by a margin of 3+ goals.

Overview

Bodo were the better side by every measure. Manchester City's gameplan was matched and outperformed by their hosts. In terms of the attacking frontline, Høgh proved to be the better striker, and he almost scored a hat-trick. The absence of some key figures in Manchester City's squad greatly impacted their performance.  However, it was a well-deserved victory for Bodo/Glimt.
