Samuel Chukwueze Scores Brace As Fulham Narrowly Lost To Manchester City

 

Fulham narrowly lost to Manchester City in a fierce nine-goal thriller by 5-4, with Phil Foden and Samuel Chukwueze scoring braces for their sides. 

City regained their winning streak after their previous game against Leeds United. They had lost two consecutive Premier League games. They have now consolidated their position in the Premier League, trailing Arsenal by two points. 

Erling Haaland led the scoresheet with the opening goal in the 17th minute. Tijjani Reijnders and Phil Foden extended the lead to three before Fulham scored their first from Emile Smith Rowe's header on the brink of halftime. 

Foden and Sander Berge's own goal extended City's lead by five goals. Fulhand resisted with Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze's brace, narrowing the lead to 5-4. In the closing minutes, Chukwuemeka narrowly missed an attempt that should have leveled for Fulham. 

The defeat ended Fulham's winning streak through two previous Premier League games. Fulham remained in the 15th position in the Premier League. 

Overview 

Fulham seized their home turf for an electrifying game with City. Chiuhwueze was impressive for much of the second, tearing down the opponents' defensive line. Fulham's midfield takeover put City in a dire situation that almost proved costly. Pace compensated for Fulham's earlier flop, but it was too late to make up for the deficit midway through the second half. 

Iwobi and Chukwueze were the engine room of the hosts. The Citizens were forced into defensive mode as the hosts took charge, leading to a brace from Chukwueze.
