Manchester City Extend Winning Streak To Nine, Defeat West Ham At Etihad
Erling Haaland has reached a record milestone of 36 Premier League goals for Manchester City, who defeated West Ham 3-0 at Etihad Stadium.
West Ham came in handy for their hosts. The victory was comfortable for City, while the Hammers could barely get threatening goal attempts. It was a one-sided game for City, coupled with Haaland scoring a brace.
Haaland scored his first goal in the first five minutes. Phil Foden cut back the ball to him inside the box, and he struck a rebound into the net. Tijjani Reijnders doubled the lead, smashing Foden's pass into the top of the net, midway through the first half.
The Norwegian striker completed the victory with the third goal midway through the second half. Savio latched onto the right and placed Haaland inside the box and sure-footed the ball down the bottom centre of the post.
Manchester City’s campaign continues to go from strength to strength as a 2-0 home victory against Brentford in midweek not only secured their spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, but also extended their run to a seventh consecutive competitive victory. However, City have led a league-high 11 Premier League games at half-time this season and have won their last seven home league games.
Overview
Manchester City had a field day. Haaland made a record out of it. The Norwegian was calm, scoring both goals as West Ham's defense was overridden by their hosts. The striker's goal tally is now the most for a player in a single Premier League season.
